As you leave the comfy confines of your house, look around you. Do you see luscious forest and greenery. If so, you are lucky, if it is hundreds upon hundreds of houses leaving nature no place to take its last gasp than you are like many people on our becoming gray earth for me this thought is inescapable. Every day I feel trapped by this imbalance between nature and human spread.
The more aware of these things we are everyday the more likely we are to save our earth as a whole people.
After I saw avatar I realized that the whole time I was longing subconsciously to be apart of a different species. As weird as this sounds I think i'm tired of the human race. we destroy our planet. our perceptions of things that aren't human related are little. we get angry when another human gives us a funny look but animal and plant life being destroyed is hardly a worry to most of us. we should stop worrying what other people think of us and start caring what nature thinks of us. we've already bulldozed our own sacred tree. WHY!!!
One thing I envy about the villagers in avatar is the community. everybody comes together in ritual. they have respect. the respect and care with these people is everywhere. They respect nature and each other and they care for nature and each other. A society that is careless is unattractive, as are people. a person who litters is unattractive in the same way as a culture who litters all over their streets is considered unattractive.
I also find that the feeling of not being the most dangerous thing out there holds the community close and away from conflict. throughout history it has been shown that a greater threat brings peace to a community. But the magic in this community is that they don't fear the dangerous animals, they respect them. In this way they're not at war with each other they are at their respectful distances. the native society in Avatar is almost a utopian society.
